Managing Director: Ross Holmes LLB. (Hons.), TEP.



Ross Holmes is Managing Director of Ross Holmes Trusts Limited, a Director of a number of private companies, and a trustee of the trusts established by his family.

Ross graduated with an honours degree in law from Victoria University in Wellington in 1971 (which included a masters paper in taxation and estate planning). He has been practising as a lawyer since 1973 and has been a partner in law firms since 1975.

Ross specialises in asset protection planning and trusts. He is a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), the author of the best selling books on trusts: "Sham Trusts" (1999), "Success with Trusts" (2000), "Successful Trust Management" (2002 and 2005), is a contributing author to legal publishers Lexis Nexis text book "Law of Trusts" (2000), and has had articles on trusts published in legal journals.

His experience in the asset protection planning field includes a period as senior manager in the taxation division of a leading accountancy firm, and a period as Managing Director of an Australia and New Zealand Banking Group international trustee company subsidiary. Ross gives regular seminars on "Solutions with Trusts" and "Sham Trusts". rossholmes@rossholmes.co.nz

Senior Asset Protection Planning Consultant - Neena Bartlett LLB., Dip. Crim., TEP.





Neena Bartlett joined Ross Holmes in 1989. She graduated a degree in Law from Canterbury University and was admitted as a Barrister and a Solicitor of the High Court in 1988. Neena also completed a Diploma in Criminology from Auckland University in 1988. She is a member of STEP and has extensive experience in property law and asset protection planning. neenab@rossholmes.co.nz

Senior Asset Protection Planning Consultant: David Gibson TEP

David Gibson joined Ross Holmes in September 2005, having spent his entire working career advising private clients on all aspects of taxation trust and investment planning in the United Kingdom. David started off his legal career in Lincolns Inn working for two leading firms of private client solicitors over a 10 year period. Thereafter he worked for two London based firms of stockbrokers for many years before taking out residency in New Zealand.

David is a member of the UK Securities and Investment Institute and also a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Asset Protection Planning Consultant: Teddy Chow LLM., LLB.(Hons.), B.Soc.Sc. 

Teddy joined Ross Holmes in 2007 having previously been a partner in a Hong Kong law firm. He graduated with an honours degree in law and Marsters degree in Law in England. His New Zealand areas of expertise include property, commercial, trusts and asset protection planning, and wills.

Asset Protection Planning Consultant: Julia Xu MCL., LLB.

Julia joined Ross Holmes in 2007 having previous worked in a New Zealand law firm. Prior to immigrating to New Zealand, she worked in a Chinese law firm as a partner with 9 years extensive legal practice in corporate and commercial law.She graduated with a Law degree in China and a Master of Common Law degree in Australia, and was re-qualified and admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2008. Her New Zealand areas of expertise include asset protection planning and taxation trusts, wills, family law, commercial, business and property law.

Julia speaks English and Mandarin.

Senior Trust Officer/Legal Executive - Kirsty Hourigan





Kirsty Hourigan has many years experience in administration and accounts. She joined Ross Holmes in 1998 as a Trust Consultant specialising in the administration of Trusts. This involves the preparation and filing of tax returns, annual gifting and administration reviews to ensure that the Trust is run efficiently and correctly.
